It is the end of the afternoon, in Covão D'Ametade, at Serra da Estrela. A friend and I arrive with time to work the place out, study the light and plan a good set of photographs. We savour the moment. We savour the place. Maybe it's only us and another person, who we after discover to be a former TV journalist, also making the most of those mountains. We have a great conversation with him, together in the limit of the beech forest, admiring the mountain walls and clouds.
The wind blows strong in the mountain tops, and the sun starts to scatter great yellow, orange and magenta casts. The clouds stay almost in the same place, dancing franticly in a non-stop trance, taking different forms. We are in the shade and it is on the top of the shaded icy walls that the dance takes place.
