This photograph, as a good example of the capture of the Alpenglow, has for me double, triple and quadruple meanings. First, it portrays a unique and incredibly narrow moment when mountain peaks reflect the golden rays of the sun on the horizon. Then, it was a second day of the attempt to be prepared in the right place, at the right time. In third place, more profoundly, it represents the irony of a place that some still call ski-resort, as an El Dorado for those, but a disaster to the mountains and local people. Fourth, it represents for me a return to the Serra da Estrela, with hope for change, knowing of the creation of a walking circuit and mountain huts in the place.
More on this photograph, and on others of Serra da Estrela, in the next Zimbro Magazine (in portuguese).
